Over the next few days, we’ll be posting quite a few pictures from the garden tour. These are from photographer J. Narvali who photographed several of the gardens, including many shots during the morning rain, with an umbrella keeping the water away from the camera.
The Long Branch by the Lake Garden tour began with Nadia, pictured above, along with Sheila (below right with Sandie un-scrolling the banner), who hatched the idea together back in 2016.
It really was an historic day for Long Branch as we hosted Toronto’s biggest free self-guided garden tour. When planning began, we never imagined it would grow to 37 gardens.
Helen Battersby, above, taught many gardeners about common garden plants most of us had no idea were edible. Jennifer Arnott, below, showed us how to turn a few plants into many.
Here’s a selection of photos from several of the gardens on the tour. We’ll feature many of the other gardens over the next few days. Click on any picture below to scroll through the photos in a larger format.
and more….
Enjoy the photos – more to come soon. We’ve received loads of very positive feedback! Here’s what some of our visitors had to say:
Loved it!!!
A lot of work & creativity, not only in plants.
Refreshments & places to rest, too.
Appreciated inclusion of North Long Branch.
Great way to meet & chat with neighbours, old & new.
Too much to see in 1 day!!! Hope it can be done again.
Many, many thanks to all who opened their gardens to us, to the organizers & to everyone else involved in any way.
and….
This garden tour was the best one I’ve ever attended, very inspiring: the people, creativity, passion, sense of community.
